DRIVING STANDARDS
If in a race you feel you have been unfairly passed, had contact made, or forced off the track then you can put in an Si. We hope none of these are needed, and in truth most aren’t if you give yourself time to calm down, a cooling off period, and look at what has really happened. You will be amazed how many aren't when we look, or even the person you think was involved was no where to be seen.
These are just a guide and hopefully will never be used. Any incidents in the race that you would like looked at, please send to Mad2210 (Marc Davis). Please send video footage and a few details. We must have something to support this, and can’t go on the basis of “he hit me on lap 10”. Mad will then arrange for this to be locked at, either by himself or others in the series (and in other series) and, will return with a response. Whatever he responds with will be final, and please respect that. All Si’s will be posted with the decisions on the Track Guide feature on Facebook to show why the decisions were made.
If the incident involves Mad2210, then you can send to Major Raver who will cascade to the same people and get back to you.
So who looks at it? We have a few volunteers who will be randomly asked for their views. Some may race in the series, some don’t, it’s a bit like jury duty service. Although Mad is head of this section, he is not the person who may have made the decision, just the messenger. All decisions will be made by people not involved in the accident.
The admin team have the right to look at any incidents in the race whether they are reported or not, and issue pens. Consistency is the key.
So here are a few examples:
Cutting Corners – 2 second pen for each offence, 5 times and the pen is one minute. Cutting to avoid an accident bollocking the road, being pushed off track, or going offline to return to the pits because you have damage will not be penalised. Also, if you clearly show you gained no advantage due to lifting off the power, then the admin team may decide you’ve gained not advantage and not issue the 2 second pen.
Push another car to pass gaining a position. This will be a 5 second pen, as long as the car you hit is not damaged, has been spun out or deemed to have lost more than 5 seconds. If you have let the other car re-pass, without you stopping, then no pen will be given. Please do not stop, slow heavily or wait, as this could cause further accidents. If you have had to stop and wait, this means the incident is more serious than a 5 second pen.
Contact with another car. If you make a mistake and push another car off or at worst damage the other car, the penalty will be for time lost plus 20seconds. The time lost will be based on the position of the cars just before the accident, and the position after the pit stop (or recovery to track if no pit stop is needed). A further 20 seconds will be added to this time as well. If this involves multiple cars than the times will be added or a drive through served at the next round.
Make a mistake in the first lap, by missing your braking and causing a pile up? This will be as the pens above, and also a grid penalty for the next race.
If you retire from the race so no pens can be issued, you could receive a grid pen at the next race, or a first lap drive through.
Deliberately hitting another car, can result in disqualification from the results.
Hopefully we never have to issues any pens or Si’s, but when we do, please respect we are only trying to be fair.
Admins decision is final.
