Latest News

RangersRick is the new Champion and with it retires the name.  From now on the Thunder Enduro Champ is calling himself TORC Rick.  Rick has confirmed he is likely to proudly display the Number 1 on the side of his car in Season 5.  Rick has left KRR to reform his team GRT for season 5, and they have already acquired three Ford Sierra RS500.  The team boss has signed Hoppers and Dazz for next season, in the attempt to help them win a race in the AM Class, which all in the paddock agree is a great thing to do.

NIKEMIKERULES returned to the series at Bernese Alps, as correctly predicted by Fred Kravitz last week.  Mike showed a lot of his old speed in a Corvette and has admitted he is looking to run the car next season in a bid to regain his title.  It did spark a few rumours in the pits as you will see below.

It is looking likely we will see the end of the Class system for next season due to the lack of AWD entries.  The CTCRC Thundersaloon and Sports are likely to replace this, as the series starts to show its affiliation.

Badbeat has decided to defend his AM Class next season.  As Champion he was offered the chance to move up to ProAM, but believes another season battling as he has this, will continue to help him move up the grid.  Wambogini is expected to accept the offer to drop down to AM as the lowest scoring ProAM runner.  The AM class promises to be another cracker next season.

Horizon have been hard at work testing the Aston Martin, which is showing some promise for team boss Adrian Tremholme, and a few nice liveries.  It is not known if he will be running alone or with a second car as of yet.  (See rumours).

It has been confirmed that Team Cheetah will be back for Season 5, with FKart.  He was famously banned from the series in Season 1, and will back as a reserve and under the watchful eye of the stewards.  No doubting the drivers speed, as he has been a regular winner in THORS and PK since his Thunder Enduro absence.  The team will be running the rather bizarre Tameo, which should be a car to turn a few heads.

DART said goodbye to the Alfa 4c that it run in Modsports and two seasons of the Thunder Enduro.  The team had run Alfa cars for 3 seasons and had already announced it had agreed terms with Ford for next season.  It wasn't a good day for the team in the TORC Touring Cars, as Kidders and Raver did a bit of synchronised crashing at Lime Rock on Sunday.

Gossip

Mike is back and will he return to RML?  A few rumours in the paddock had him returning to his old team and Penfold moving to either KRR alongside Badbeat in the Honda, or the new team being set up by Bradders.  Team boss Clare Morrall denied this and said the team would remain unchanged.  Rumours are a returning Lotus from Season 2.

Rumours of changes at SWR continue.  Posh Rob was seen chatting with other teams, and one rumour has him already signed to a different team in the Touring Cars next season, with possibly DSR.  That started rumours of SWR closing its Sunday team, as Xray who has impressed many, could be about to join Maj full time in the team they have set up for the Thunder Enduro.

Pronag will be seen in an Aston Martin next season, and rumours are he will joined in a second version of the car with WeeBilly.  Billy has also been linked with teaming up with his old friend Mike, the two winning the title for RML in Season 2.

Team Hard have left the series?  With the return of RGreenwood to Alert-It, that seems likely, although Nikemike's new venture could run under the famous name in Season 5?

Rumours that Maj threw his BMW off the cliff in Switzerland after Tuesday's race.  Well it may not be the end of BMW in the series, Cerberus have been heavily linked with running the German companies works team next season.

Changes to the Sundays for next Season?  Rumours are that the Ford Escort Challenge and Mini's will join the bill, at the expense of the sprint Touring Car race and the Beetles  The Touring Cars will run in Feature race format only?

Thunder Enduro

Four drivers in a showdown to what has been a really good season, without a doubt the best.  Rumours in the week even had RangersRick as not appearing due to work commitments, but as the teams arrived in the Swiss Alps, all three Honda NSX's were present.  Testing had shown them to be fast, Bradders is a circuit expert here and was hopeful, but couldn't find another tenth from the car no matter what setup changes he made.  He though thought the two Cerberus Camaro's would be quick, but the two drivers were not so hopeful, finding the car a bit to much of a handful in the really fast corners.  Posh Rob had been testing hard and was hopeful that his higher position on the grid would stand him in good stead.

The Support race was for the Trans AM cars, that had been scheduled to appear earlier in the season.  Pronag looked odds on to lift the crown and he had a good start to get on the tail of RGreenwood and Robraceruk on lap 1.  Greenwood soon fell back finishing 9th, but Pronags rival Bradders was on the move and took Raver for 3rd on lap 3.  A lap later he was in the lead, from Robraceruk and Pronag trying everything to get passed and win series in style.  On lap 5 he did, only for Robbracer to retake second place, the Horizon team pit garage were biting there nails as he only needed to finish third in class to win the title.  The following lap bought the heartache, as the Ford Mustang went over the jump around the back of the circuit, the engine cut and with it he ground to a halt against the barriers.  Retirement and the championship lost.  Bradders was in no mood to give this away and backed off to win the race and regain his title, followed home by the very impressive Robracer in second.  Major Raver held on to the final podium spot after a great dice with CQR Posh Rob, the SWR driver finding the Pontiac ahead sideways every time at the bottom of the hill in its defence.

So a massive crowd were ready for what about decide the Champion of Season 4.  An extra treat for the crowd was the return of NikeMIke who sat at the back of the grid in a 2002 Corvette  Plato made a great start from pole to lead Robraceruk, Kinky and Raver into the first corner.  Kinky was keen to pass the Ferrari, whilst Raver was equally keen to pass them both, having already dived past JRush and CQR Posh Rob on the run down to turn one.  Plato was showing the testing pace, to blast away from all this out front and cross the line at the end of lap 1, 2 seconds ahead, but it was Raver in Second, who managed to pass both Kinky and Robracer in the final turn, the Camaro now third, the Ferrari dropping to 17th after clipping the wall and losing loads of speed down the start straight.  Of the title contenders Posh Rob was 5th behind his teammate, Bradders 12th having passed Rick through turn 3, and Devil Lord 15th.  Plato continued to lead whilst Raver had his mirrors full of Subaru, as the pair were now third and fourth.  JRush passed Raver on lap 2 for second, which quickly became 1st as Plato had got it all wrong on the exit on the bridge and hit the wall, the team advantage moving from KRR to Cerberus.  That advantage then quickly went to SWR as Kinky was the next in trouble through the esses, and heading to the pits, whilst a couple of laps later Devil Lord's hopes were over after he hit the wall hard and lost nearly a lap getting repairs.  Posh Rob was in no mood to follow Raver again and was now up to second, and the two SWR cars were fighting big style out front, until Rob get it wrong through turn two, went wide hit the wall and with it a pit visit that he knew would finish his title hopes.  So end of lap 5 and JRush led Raver, with Bradders now up to third, Rick fourth, and Wambogini an impressive 5th place.  Bradders and Rick soon passed the Alfa and latched on to the back of the Subaru.  For the next 10 laps these three run nose to tail, Rick ducked out a few time to have a go at Bradders, and finally did so coming on to the bridge section.  This sent Bradders to the pits in the hope that fresh tyres and clear air could help him jump the pair.  To cover this off JRush was in on the next lap, and he returned to the track ahead of the Mazda.  Rick now used the clear air to set some storming lap times that when he stopped 3 laps later he returned to the track 4 seconds ahead of JRush, who still had Badders bottled up behind him.  Raver now led, followed by Mike, who had slowly made his way through the field to run 5th.  Raver stopped on lap 22, and resumed in a comfortable fourth, Rick now back in the lead by 5 seconds and knowing the title was his for the taking.  He made no mistakes over these final 10 laps and crossed the line to win his first race since season 1, and grab the title in style.  JRush followed him home in second, still with Bradders stuck to his rear bumper.  The reigning champion was very gracious at the end of the race, saying Rick deserved the title with that drive, and praising JRush in second.

Raver bought the Alfa home in 4th after a very good drive, whilst behind him we had a superb battle for 5th.  Plato was on a major recovery and took the 5th place 3 laps from home, after a great dice with Mike, Celtic and Kidders.  Celtic had driven superbly in the Lamborghini, and was over the moon with 6th, whilst Kidders was disappointed with 7th as he felt he could have been higher.  Mike pulled over on the last lap as he didn't want to score but use the race as a test session.  For Posh Rob he recovered to finish 8th, utterly disappointed to miss out after leading for so long, whilst Robraceruk recover well for 9th and Wambogini continued his impressive race with a tenth place finish.

It was a triple celebration down at KRR, drivers title, teams title and AM championship for the sister team run for Badbeat.  The Champagne flowed all night, in what has been a fantastic season, with close racing and superb battles.  All three winners know, that next season will be even harder.

Teams & Drivers:

AV Motorsport: Xray Energy DNE

Did not enter.

BTC Honda Civic: AtomStew 15th

Managed to win possibly the last ever Class A race, and grabbed the final race point.  Needed a second stop after damage early on, but showed some good speed in what has summed up his season, lots of promise without the hoped for results.

Cerberus  Chevrolet Camaro 02:  Devil Lord – 18th,           Kinkycowboys 13th

The team came into this race full of hope, and it fell a part very quickly.  Kinkycowboys was in the top 3 early on, but he hit a wall and with it fell down to 13th place.  Team mate Devil Lord had a feint hope of the title but he struggled all race and sustained a lot of damage, with an off and was lucky to get back to the pits for repairs.  He never gave up though.

Cerberus R&D Mazda MX5: Bradderstig 3rd

The reigning Champion was the pre-race favourite for victory and the title, as he is a bit of a circuit expert.  He tried hard, and got into the top 3 by lap 6, rung the neck out of the Mazda, but couldn't find a way passed JRush for the rest of the race no matter how much he tried.  Passed by Rick he watched as the Honda romped to victory and the title.  Very gracious in defeat and admitted the little Mazda had nothing left to give at the end.

DARE Alfa 4c: Wambogini 10th

Impressive end to the season for Wambogini, in his last race in the Alfa.  Ran 5th early on and spent most of the race in and around the top 10, making very few mistakes.  On this form will be a major problem for Badbeat in AM next season.

DART Alfa 4c: xKidders 7th,           Major Raver 4th

Kidders had a frustrating race.  Moved through to 5th by lap 8, only to have to pit for damage when a back marker went off in front of him.  Left him stopping earlier than he wanted, and spent the end of the race in a great little dice with Mike, Plato and Celtic.  Believed he could have come 5th, if not for the early stop.  Teammate Raver was a very impressive 4th place.  Took second with a great move at the end of lap 1, he battled with the SWR cars early on.  followed the top 3 in the hope of a mistake, but didn't quite have the pace to challenge them.  Saw the reliable Alfa off in style for the team.

DMB34 BMW M2: Devilsboogeyman 19th

Showed up with a massively detuned BMW, in the hope of a finish, and he did that.  Stayed out of trouble and came fourth in the AM class which will hopefully give him some confidence for next season.

NikeMike returned to the series and showed his old pace.

20190604_224234.png

Hoppers Sport said goodbye to the series

EmpireMSport BMW M3: Maj  12th,                            Empire DNE

Maj's dislike for the BMW has been obvious for weeks and things didn't improve here.  Was quicker in the sister Hoppers Sport car in testing, he struggled to get the balance on the corners.  Test drive by RangersRick helped a bit before race, but it didn't improve the result.  Road America seems such a long time ago now.

Hooligan Racing Mazda RX7: RotaryRhys DNE

Did Not Enter.

Hoppers Sport BMW M3: Hopperswwfc 21st

Final race for Hoppers Sport, and it saw Hoppers come home last of the runners.  A lack of testing again didn't help the driver, he also struggled with a few electrical issues, and needed three stops.  Beaten by Dazzlentfc late in the race.

Horizon with Scruffs Chevrolet Camaro 16: Pronag 11th           Dazzlentfc 20th

The end of the season maybe a good thing for the team, as the Camaro has come to the end of its days.  Pronag fought hard to finish 11th, his day and the teams already suffering heartbreak in the support race.  Dazz kept plugging away, and was overjoyed to catch Hoppers near the end and not finish last on track.

KRR Racing Honda NSX 02: RangersRick 1st,           PMR Plato 5th

KRR had high hopes for the team title, with the car quick in testing, but Rick like he had all season was down playing his hopes in the drivers.  Rick drove a superb race, fighting through to 3rd by lap 6, he then spent 8 laps trying to find a way past title rival Bradderstig, which he did.  Romped to victory and the title in a faultless drive.  Plato led early on and looked comfortable until an error at the end of lap 2 saw damage and a stop.  Needed a further stop, but he fought back well and managed to come out top in the late battle for 5th.  RangersRick - DRVIER OF THE DAY.

Monster JamSport Honda NSX 2005:  WeeBilly DNE

Did not enter.

Quicksilver Lamborghini Countach:  CelticFox 6th

One of the best drives of his season, as Celtic drove a superb race.  In a mega battle for 5th late on with Mike, Plato and Kidders, he was unable to beat the Honda, but did great to hold the others off and send the team home positive ahead of season 5.

RML Ferrari 355: Mad DNE,                           Robraceruk 9th

Briefly second at the end of lap 1, he brushed the wall and scrubbed off a lot of speed that dropped him back to 17th.  Fought back well and had a good late on dice with CQR Posh Rob for 7th  He felt he may have come 5th without the early loss of time.

RML Development Ferrari 355: Penfold 17th

Penfold took Super Lap, the only driver to score a clean lap at every round.  Had another feisty first lap, he didn't have the pace to match Greenwood in class, but had his customary dice midrace with Badbeat.  Its been a good season.

SMEG Racing Honda NSX 02: Badbeat 16th

Two stops slowed down the third Honda NSX, but Badbeat battled back to 16th.  Has had a great season, and will be looking forward to his promotion to the Team Champions team for Season 5.  He has earned it.

SWR Subaru BRZ: CQR Posh Rob 8th         JRush 2nd

A great dice early on by the teammates, but an error by Rob saw him hit the wall and with it his Championship chances went.  Was rather subdued after that, briefly got back to 5th, but a late stop dropped him back to 8th at the end.  JRush drove a masterclass in defensive driving, holding off Bradders nearly the whole race.  Unable to beat Rick, it was a massively impressive performance, that marks him out as a title favourite for next season.

SWR with Prostate Cancer Subaru BRZ:  Scarlet Witch DNF

Not the finish the team boss was hoping for.  Had a couple of moments at the bottom of the hill, the last seriously damaging her car and leaving her in retirement.

Team Hard Porsche Cayman: RGreenwood 14th

A good drive by RGreenwood that won him the AM Class.  Showed some good pace and bar for a second stop may have finished within the top 10 overall.  Nice way to finish what is possibly Team Hard's last race in the series.

Team Indy: NikeMikeRules DNF

Surprise return to the series for the Season 1 and 2 champion, in the Corvette last seen in Season 2 with JDR.  Took a few laps getting back in the swing of things, his pace of old still very much present as he moved up to 5th.  Had a great dice with CelticFox, Kidders and Plato, he made the decision to pull over and retire at the end so as to not get involved in the Championship points.  Likely to have finished 6th if he hadn't.

TOS Lancia 037: J47TEE DNE

Raver and the squabbling SWR twins early on.  JRush came second.

Pronag saw his Support hopes go up in smoke late on.

Touring Car Sunday - Rounds 10 & 11.

Lime Rock welcomed the Touring Car drivers for the first time, and the VW Beetles got us underway.  Shanisss led them away and held on well in the early laps, both Gizzard and Xray running in the top 3 after front row starter Celtic Fox made an error and dropped back.  Some Championship contenders were in real trouble.  Contact between Kidders and Major Raver, saw the later in the wall, and then collected by the unlucky Pronag, as Raver's Beetle bounced off the tyre wall into his path.  Pronag then got it all wrong under the bridge, spun across the track into Raver and this launched the white Beetle of Pronag into a barrel roll.  Through all this Bradders was busy picking his way through the pack and on lap 6 passed Shanisss for the lead, a lead he held on to until the end, and became the first person to win twice in the cars.  Shanissss kept the pressure on for second, whilst in third Gizzard was the first non Elite car home, having had a great battle with Xray all race.  Robraceruk finished 5th, whilst Maj extended his Championship lead with a superb 6th from the back of the grid.

The Touring Cars lined up for the Sprint race with Hoppers on Pole, but it was the VW Golf from Raver on row two and Pronag on row 3, that made the lightning starts.  The BMW had a look into turn one, but used caution and backed out, something that proved to be a very wise decision later on.  Raver led the first two laps and looked comfortable out front, when at the same corner as his off in the Beetles, he made an error and hit the tyre wall.  Pronag, this time was able to avoid, but not so Raver's teammate Kidders, who also made a mistake at the same corner, got wide and promptly hit his stationary teammate.  A massive amount of face palming in the DART pit garages!  Pronag was out front but slowly but surely he was being closed down by the Mitsubishi of Shanissss and the Cerberus Subaru of Bradderstig.  Shanisss made his move two from the end, but Pronag was hanging on in, even though he had to keep one eye on the Subaru that was large in his mirrors.  It was a great little dice for the last 2 laps, each driver not making a mistake, but it was Shanisss in the EmpireMSport Mitsubishi that hung on to give the car its first ever win in the series.  Pronag was very happy with second, Bradders equally so with third.  Behind them Xray beat Gizzard in a great dice for 4th, whilst Devil Lord came out on top in an equally good fight with the RML Focus of Robraceruk.  Rick was the first Golf home in tenth, the team rather subdued after an utter disaster.

Hoppers was swamped again on the run down to turn one, and Kidders turned in first, only to have Raver go all the way around the outside of him and snatch the lead, rather risky after what had happened between these two already today.  Raver though was on a mission and quickly started building up a lead, Kidders sticking with him although by lap 4 he had his mirrors full of the Ford of XRay and the Subaru of Bradderstig, who had somehow managed to get up to 4th in 4 laps!  Kidders finally made an error under pressure which let these two past, and on lap 7 Bradderstig was up to second, 3 seconds behind Raver out front.  Slowly the Subaru cut the gap down, and on the start of lap 12 he threw it down the inside of turn one to take the lead.  The Golf tried hard to stay with the Subaru, but their was no stopping Bradders who remained unflustered to real off the laps and victory.  Raver was equally comfortable in second, until 5 laps from home, when two cones on the track damaged his radiator and lost him a bit of power.  He managed to hold on for second, which made up somewhat the embarrassment of earlier in the day.  Behind him two Fords were hard at it, as Robraceruk was challenging the new version of Xray.  Rob couldn't get quiet close enough to grab the final podium spot, but it was a very impressive performance by the pair of them.

Maj using his teammates setup was an impressive 5th in one of his best runs of the season, the two Lancer's separated by Rick, who had not found the Golf as easy to drive around Lime Rock as his team mate. Pronag finished 8th and Gizzard 9th, these two far from out of the Championship hunt, whilst a dejected Kidders rounded out the top 10, holding off Sealey who had been unlucky as was Celticfox, to get caught up with each other early on trying to pass Devil Lord.  As for the other two Subaru's, it was a terrible race that gave a little bit of hope for those down at DART and SWR after the race.
