Thunder Enduro
So what is Thunder Enduro?
It is a racing series run on the Forza games; it ran for a number of seasons on past Forza titles. The races are longer in length and they also have success ballast put into them. The faster drivers win the Championship, but they have to use race craft as well as pace, as the racing gets very closed up from the front of the grid to the back throughout the season.
How does it work?
You start the season with a set Pi (Performance Index) of 760. As you win races, your Pi goes down; if you finish near the back the Pi goes up. The Pi moves between 685 - 785 for Pro and Elite drivers and 725 and 785 for ProAm and Am runners.
Cars Allowed?
No track toys, no SUV's or spec racing cars. Cars most be able to run in a PI within your range, with race exhaust, max tyre widths, race tyres and Forza aero at every round. Please note, some cars will be allowed to run the bunny kit or other aero that acts in the same. Please contact the admins in advance to check and get the ok. The cars need to have those bits installed and be able to run at the lowest Pi, if when installed they are slightly over and a engine, drivetrain or other modifications take them on or under the lower Pi for you, then that is totally acceptable. But that drivetrain you run must remain the same for the whole season. The key point is your car has to be able to race at the lowest Pi with Forza Aero front and back, maxed race tyres and racing exhaust. If you have any questions then please contact us.
What decides the Pi Change?
Winning a race sees a Pi drop of 30, second sees 25, third 20, and this goes through to 5Pi for 6th. If 12 or more cars are present, the last 5 finisher gain Pi, so 12th would be able to add 25, down to 8th place adding 5Pi. These Pi’s are for the car for the next race. No one can go below the bottom Pi for their class, or above 785. The PI’s for the next round are posted within an hour of the race finishing.
Sounds Complicated?
It isn’t, all is listed for you straight away, giving you at least a week to build and test a car with any changes.
What happens if I can’t get dead on a PI?
The Pi is a maximum, not a set target. So if you are listed at 690, you must be 690 or below. If your car doesn’t go to the minimum Pi it will be disqualified of all past points and you will need to pick a new one. So check it does before the season starts.
What happens if I miss a round?
If you have already raced, you use the same Pi that was given to you in your last round. Missing rounds does not see a Pi rise. If you miss the first round(s), you will then have to start as the same Pi as the lowest car listed. No new entries to the series after the 6th round, unless agreed by all admin
How many rounds in the Championship?
11 round Championship. Races 2 to 5, and 7 to 10 will be with the variable Pi, but at rounds 1 everyone runs as 760Pi, the same for round 11 except those in AM if they are above the 760 in the following round. Round 6 longer race has been replaced by a 2 part race in Season 4. Both races will be around 30mins in length, with a break inbetween. Race 1 will see the Elite drivers running at 690Pi, Pro at 720Pi, ProAm at 750Pi and AM drivers at 780Pi. The second part will see all at 760Pi, accept any AM runners who have qualified for higher Pi in the rounds before. The two race times will be added together for the Championship points. The grid for round 6 part 1, will be as normal, part 2 will be a reverse of the race part 1 final results. The grid for round 7 will see the fastest laps for each part of round 6 added together. The final positions will effect the Pi for round 7.
How Many races and Length of them?
One Thunder Enduro round a week, lasting around 45minutes in length. Round 6 is a two part in season 4, two races of 30mins in length. A support race runs before for different cars each week, and that is a short 15minute race in length. Thunder Enduro races are due to start at 8.30pm UK time
Dry or Wet Races?
We try to do the weather based on the real weather at the circuit. At 5pm on race day we take the weather at that time and run with that weather the circuit has through to 6pm for our race. If it was to snow at the real venue, the race would be wet due to Forza not having a snow model.
Do I have to Pit?
In season 4 yes you do, this can be on the first lap, but has to be before the leader of the race starts the last lap. You must do at least one whole lap at the end of the race on cold tyres.
Can I use any car?
You can, as long as it can be altered within the maximum and minimum Pi’s. Also a team must run the same car, and each team must run a car not already selected (First to enter on the series page will get the car they want). All cars must have maximum tyre widths, race exhaust, race tyres and Forza areo front (or acceptable other aero as above) and back for the whole season. Also when entering, the drive train must be registered and cannot then changed at anytime. Everything else can be altered within the Pi for the car. For a new season, the team using a car in the season before, has first pick on whether to keep that or move on to something new. The team name from the previos series owns the car, if the team doesn't register, the car becomes available to all. A team can run a third car for an AM or ProAM driver who has not scored a podium, this third driver must run as an independent entry but can the share the build.
How do the points work out?
Points are given for race position, but also bonus points are given for leading a lap, fastest clean lap and also beating a car with a higher Pi. Please see here
Team points are given to the first car home in each team are done as 25, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, 9, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. If a teams two cars come first and second overall, the winning car gets 25pts for the team, the second car doesn't score. The second place points will be issued to the first car home from another team.
Class points are done at 9,6,4,3,2,1, with a point for fastest lap. If only 3 or 2 drivers start in a class, half points are awarded, if only one entry only 1 point will be scored. For season 4 a ProAM/AM and Elite/Pro Championship will be run, using the same points as the class ones.
Forever Forward, points are given to each place gained at the end of the race from your starting position. You only get half though if you are at the back of the grid due to a penalty or non attendance from the last round. Also only get half points if your grid position is low due to a dirty lap. Qualifying is determined by the fastest laps from the race before, clean followed by dirty.
Can Teammates Change?
They can once only, but only before the start of round 7. They cannot make a second change or revert back to the original driver. The new teammate must enter in the car vacated, for build and drivetrain.
Dropped Scores, AM , ProAM, PRO and Elite?
The PI’s even up the grid and equalizer many of the speed differences. No dropped scores either, all 11 rounds will count. The Admins reserve the right to review the class you are entered in. Their are class championship in the support series though and the winner will be the person with the highest score out of the four classes.
Just a Teams and Drivers Championship then?
No, we have a Support Series Champion, this is done by the highest points scorer in the 4 classes. Fastest lap winner, called Super Lap. This is the fastest clean laps added together through the season. A class championship for AWD, FWD and RWD, and a Forever Forward winner. The AM runners are the only one to have a series of their own within the Thunder Enduro, points are given 9,6,4,3,2,1 plus 1 for fastest lap for the finishing order of the AM runners. The idea is that everyone has something to go for through the season. For season 4 a ProAM/AM and Elite/Pro Championship will be run, using the same points as the class ones.
How is the Grid Set?
Round 1 is the fastest lap times from the season before, over the season added together, from round 2 it is the fastest clean laps from the race before, followed by the fastest unclean laps.
What are the Support Champion / Race?
We run 11 different cars through the series, many are already on the calendar, builds and tunes are shared for anyone who needs them. These cars can range from Citroen 2cv's, to NASCARS. We run a class series for it, 9,6,4,3,2,1 with fastest lap in each class. 2 and 1 points are also given as bonus to the first two to finish overall in each round. If you don’t want to take part in the support race its fine, you can still run in the Enduro.
When does this Start and what night?
Media Night is on the 19th March 2019, Round 1 is the following week at Nürburgring GP.
What does the series offer?
Close racing with cars that suit each driver. Full race write ups for each round and season reviews and previews, plus a weekly magazine.
Who runs the Championship and administrates it?
The media and regs for the championship is looking looked after by the TORC Admin team.
What happens if we have an incident in a race?
You have 24 hours to submit to the admin page, but only after you have spoken and discussed with the other driver(s) involved. A response from both (all) parties will need to be supplied to the admins. Any incidents will then be reviewed by the admins, and they will change race positions if it is needed, but any changes will not effect the Pi of cars only championship points or starting positions for the next round will. We are hopeful most issues will be sorted out by the drivers themselves. Please see the full Si and penalty system here.
Any other question, then please ask. :)
*The Admin have the right to refuse any entry.
